Exterior Christmas Light Trends
Lightshow Projectors: Lightshow projectors are a must-have for families looking for low-maintenance decor. There are no tangled strands or burnt-out lightbulbs — just place them in your yard, facing your home and you’re good to go! Select models offered at Co-op Home Centres are energy efficient or available on dusk-to-dawn timers.
LED Neon Flex Lights: LED Neon Flex Lights can light up a doorway or a pathway during the festive season. You can also get creative with their flexibility, bending and twisting them into festive shapes!
Holiday Decorating Ideas
Inflatable Santas: Kids love inflatable holiday decorations for your yard. You’ll be the talk of the block with one of our inflatable Santa displays.
DIY Window Displays: If you’re looking for an elegant window display, pick up some Christmas tree decorations and fishing line. Hang the Christmas ornaments in your window with vertical pieces of fishing line at varying lengths, spread an even distance apart — this works well if you already have a curtain rod in place to hang them off of. Interspersing them with hanging strands of lights is also a festive idea! To take this idea one step further, consider adding pine boughs to the top of your display. You can use wire to attach them to your curtain rod, too.
DIY Festive Lamps: Some easy DIY holiday decorations you can create are festive lamps. Making them is simple — grab an empty, transparent vase and fill it with whatever festive decor you’d like. We like to hunt for pinecones with the kids for a rustic, natural look! Be sure to dry your pinecones out before using them. You can spray paint the edges of the dried pine cones with a light dusting of white for a snow-kissed result. Just be sure to spray in a well-ventilated area with a drop cloth underneath to protect your floor.
Wrap white interior Christmas lights or string lights around the inside of the jar, decorate with your supplies and turn on. Voila!
Hoop Wreaths: What’s more festive than a wreath? Make a day out of DIY decorating projects with your family, starting with hoop wreaths. You’ll need embroidery hoops or any other circular structure for your base, wire and a variety of holiday-inspired items like pine boughs and ornaments. Get crafty by spray painting your wreath supplies holiday colours like gold, red, or silver.
If you’re too busy with the rest of your holiday planning, pick up a premade wreath at your local Co-op Home Centre!
Happy Holidays!
