Ladder safety checklist
- Make sure ladder is positioned safely before climbing
- Do not use an aluminum ladder when working around electricity. Use fibreglass or wood ladders
- Keep your body centred between rails
- Keep a firm grip. Hold rails and face ladder when climbing
- Inspect ladder for damage prior to use and make sure lock and spreader arms are properly in place
- Read all instruction and warning labels prior to use
- Keep ladder clean and dry
- Do not alter your ladder in any way
- Do not use a damaged ladder
- Wear slip-resistant shoes
- Do not hop ladder to change its position: climb down to move it safely
- Do not over-reach when working on your ladder
- Do not have more than one person on the ladder

Load Rating
A load rating is the recommended total weight that can be carried by the ladder. This includes the weight of the user plus any tools, materials or accessories that the user takes up the ladder.
