Rigid foam insulation is increasingly becoming the go-to solution for improving a home’s R-value and meeting tougher building-code standards on minimum insulation values. Amvic’s SilveRboard XS allows builders to meet wall-assembly requirements effectively for 2010 NBC Section 9.36 without requiring the installation of a Heat Recovery Ventilation (HRV) system.
SilveRboard XS Rigid Foam Insulation is a high-performance, flat-sheet insulation material made from expanded polystyrene (EPS) that is coated with a layer of reflective lamination on both sides. This highly effective combination of materials offers the best R-value per dollar while giving the board the toughness to withstand handling on the job site. It meets the air-leakage requirements of the 2010 NBC, providing a breathable layer of insulation with a durable film for easy installations. SilveRboard XS Rigid Foam Insulation is acceptable for floor, wall and roof insulation for above and below grade and can be used for the following concealed applications:
- Exterior/interior above-grade walls
- Exterior/interior below grade walls
- Re-siding projects
- Slab on grades
- Exterior roof decks
- Cathedral ceilings
- Cavity walls
- Radiant floor heating
No House Wrap Needed
SilveRboard XS has been specifically engineered for exterior wall sheathing application on wood or steel frame construction. The reflective laminated surfaces are micro-perforated so that the insulation materials can “breathe,” offering both water vapour permeance and an air barrier.
The physical characteristics are within the nationally accepted guidelines for air and vapour permeance, making it unnecessary to add house wrap. Including SilveRboard XS as part of your wall solutions eliminates the extra step of adding house wrap, therefore saving on material and installation cost while improving R-value at the same time.
